Day Whatever, lost track

A massive days driving yesterday. Not so much the distance (575klm), but the conditions were pretty bad. From thick fog, to torrential rain.

From Coonabarabran to Toowoomba, there is not too much to see, just lots of road, and heaps of road-trains, mostly going the opposite direction to us.

Anyway we made it to Toowoomba just on dark, and everywhere was booked out. As it was raining and cold, camping was not an option, so we decided to drive onto Crows Nest.

I asked Mrs Navigator to look up CN and see what motels or camp grounds with cabins were available. The answer came back heaps, so we drove on. I was thinking about the response “heaps”, as I knew we were driving through a pretty much isolated area.

I asked Mrs Navigator to check again and was told there were motels with sea views. Mmmm I thought, 200 klm inland and sea views, I then suggested we check the Crows Nest in Queensland, not the suburb of Sydney . Yep, that sounded better, one motel and no sea view.
We managed to get in on a cancellation. It all seemed pretty flash on the out-side, until we went to flush the loo – broken it was, so we had to ask for a bucket to fill with water to flush, and a spare chair to wedge behind the door, as the lock didn’t work, and if they could spare a few hooks, we might re-hang the curtains..

This morning we drove off at retired person’s time, stopped for breaky somewhere, and received a call from our mate Jeff, at North Cost Campers, where we were due to collect the van on Friday.

Jeff had some good and bad news. Bad news, the van will not be ready until Monday.
Good news, as apparently we have been so patient and it would greatly assist them by collecting Monday, they will put us up for 3 nights in a unit overlooking the sea. That certainly sweetened the disappointment.

Today, we have had rain all day, but still able to sit here typing this in shorts, tee-shirt and a stubby in hand!

I think we have enough stuff
The end (for now).
