We had a quick look at the maps, and decided to take a bit of a detour on the way home. the original plan was to scoot straight down the silver City highway to Mildura.
We decided to go via Mungindi, as we had heard so much about this area. It was only a couple of hundred kilometres, so we arrived before lunch.
we checked out our Camps 6 book and decided to head for some camp sites in the Kinchega National Park. There are heaps of camp spots along the banks of the Darling River. Over about 10 kilometres we only spotted 2 other camps, so we knew we would find a “goodun” if we kept going, and we did! we picked a site at Weir 32. There are no facilities here, except so much wood, you could have a fire for a year and make little difference.
It was a mild night, so we sat around a glowing fire until about 10. It is definitely a place we will come back to and spend more time exploring the area.
Next day, onto Wentworth, Mildura and camped tonight at the camp we spent our first night of the trip at, The Hattah Kulkyne National park.
Well, that’s about it. Home tomorrow and looking forward to seeing the kids, grandkids and dogs.
If anyone is interested, i am happy to add a section of what we found to be the best maps, books and guides, along with travel tips etc.
Hopefully when i get home, i will be able to add photos for anyone interested??? If you are shoot me an email (twarnerc@gmail.com) If nothin’ is heard i will not bother.
Thanks for reading all of this drivel over the past 3 months. It really was “A trip of a life time” as a famous man once said.
